Abstract

This presentation will explore the potential of utilizing depleted giant oil and gas pools for carbon capture and storage (CCS) hubs. We will delve into the geological and hydrogeological considerations essential for assessing the viability of long-term CCS storage. Attendees will gain insights into the integration of geological, geomechanical, and dynamic models to evaluate storage potential. Key topics include the assessment of reservoir potential, injectivity, containment, as well as the impact of structure and hydrogeological conditions on storage. The session will also cover the importance of geomechanics and dynamic modeling in predicting long-term behavior and ensuring safe CO2 storage. Join us to understand the complexities and methodologies involved in transforming depleted reservoirs into effective CCS hubs.
