As Montney production shoots past the 2 million boepd mark, Canada’s largest resource play continues to be at the forefront of several major WCSB developments, both technical and otherwise. This presentation will summarize current Montney activity and production trends, with a focus on the Petrinex sales gas data released in early 2024 and its application to liquids mapping. Completion metrics will also be discussed. As lateral lengths and proppant use continue to climb in the Montney, water is also a growing concern—both where to find it and where to dispose of it. Time will be devoted to Montney H2S production, with a look at areas where levels are elevated, and possible sources. An overview of non-geological issues, such as the effects of the Coastal GasLink pipeline coming on stream, and potential BC land access issues will also be worked into the presentation.
