The uppermost Cretaceous and Tertiary is composed of seven formations, which have been subdivided into 12 subunits or members. Eight of these subunits have the potential for reservoir and shallow gas reserves. The overall objective of this study is to apply shallow gas knowledge and techniques to the uppermost Cretaceous and Tertiary section to determine the gas resource potential over a large area of south-central Alberta. Specific objectives are to develop a stratigraphic model for the area with defining formation boundaries and inter-formational boundaries, develop a comprehensive database of reservoir pressures/fluid chemistry/production histories, examine existing accumulations of gas to determine traps size and productivity, and to determine the resource potential for each of the stratigraphic units.
