This study investigates multiple hydrogeologic components of the Lower Mannville Bluesky and Ellerslie Formations in the Swan Hills area of northwestern Alberta. The hydrodynamic evaluation of the Bluesky and Ellerslie shows regional hydraulic continuity within the Bluesky with updip flow across the study area. Hydraulic continuity within the Ellerslie is localized with hydraulic breaks relating to pinch outs onto Paleozoic highs. Several structurally-trapped pools may have been identified within the Upper Ellerslie. P/E graphs and Pool Delineation analysis indicate that the numerous occurrences of hydrocarbons in both Bluesky and Ellerslie may yield economic accumulations of natural gas in the Swan Hills area with further exploration.
