Phase II of a geophysics/geomechanics study carried out in the Flat Lake area of northeastern Montana (T.37N, R.57E) just south of the Saskatchewan border was supplemental to a previous study (Phase I), which involved data evaluation only. The second phase included Rock Property Classification, Geomechanical Characterization and Analysis of Production Trends in the Mississippian Bakken, which is subdivided into Above Bakken, Upper Bakken, Middle Bakken and Devonian Three Forks in this study.
Deliverables for Phase II include:
• Elastic property and shear log prediction crossplots.
• A section on SHmax modelling.
• A vertical stress gradient histogram.
• Hydraulic fracture data by well and versus minifrac data.
• Breakout and induced fracture analysis using image logs.
In addition, the study presents a section on Rock Mechanical Properties Analysis, along with a section on geomechanics-related drilling issues .
