A multi-disciplinary approach was used to evaluate the Lower and Middle Montney gas potential in the greater Birch area of northeast BC. Stratigraphy, mineralogy, petrophysics, geomechanics, geothermics, hydrodynamics, gas chemistry and completion engineering were evaluated. Recommendations for drilling targets and horizontal completion strategies were provided.
