This study provides an evaluation of the deep Paleozoic reservoirs in the Greater Sundance area of West Central Alberta. The objective was to identify and characterize the best saline aquifer candidates to sequester up to 3.0Mt/year of carbon dioxide. The selection criteria included aquifer depth >1000m and lack of proximal hydrocarbon development. Top aquifer candidates included the Cambrian Lynx formation, Devonian Leduc formation and Permian Belloy formation. Aquifer volume and reservoir parameters were a key output.
