A waste disposal well at Swan Hills Alberta is evaluated for injectate plume development. Disposal operations utilize Wabamun and Winterburn carbonate reservoirs. These reservoirs are evaluated through geological, hydrogeological and geomechanical methods. Estimates of plume area and migration are provided. Separation of Wabamun-Winterburn waste disposal reservoirs from oil bearing Swan Hills formation is evaluated. Recommendations are provided for safely drilling through the disposal reservoirs in the vicinity of the injectate plume.
