Who We Are

Canadian Discovery Ltd.

Company Profile

Canadian Discovery Ltd. (CDL) is an independent, global energy information services company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As world leaders in reservoir- to basin-scale evaluation, we specialize in assessing subsurface properties, pressure, fluid flow, fluid chemistry and geomechanics. CDL’s extensive subsurface knowledge and GIS capabilities support a multitude of industries including exploration & production, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), critical minerals, geothermal energy and water disposal and sourcing solutions. Our deep understanding of depositional environments and fluid-rock interactions in the subsurface has been CDL’s core competency for over 35 years.

As a company whose products and services are built on data, CDL has invested heavily in proprietary algorithms and workflows while leveraging the discerning human eye. Our extensive library of non-confidential technical studies and publications provides an ideal springboard for future work.

Vision

CDL's vision is to lead the transition to a sustainable energy future by leveraging our extensive subsurface expertise to advance clean technologies in E&P, CCUS, geothermal, and critical minerals, delivering innovative solutions for a cleaner, greener world.

Mission

CDL's mission is to "unearth" opportunities, and to provide our clients with a competitive advantage by leveraging our unique ideas, knowledge and skills.

Our Evolution

CDL’s story begins in Calgary in 1987 when geologist Ed Fogg launched E&P activity reporting to provide value-added, cost-effective solutions to industry. In 1989, only a few blocks down the street, hydrodynamicist Kaush Rakhit started Rakhit Petroleum Consulting (RPCL), a geological consultancy. For the next 15 years, the two companies grew in parallel, until 2005 when the two entities joined forces. Since that time, CDL has expanded its capabilities, offerings and international presence to become the integrated, global energy information services company it is today.
