Abstract

This talk focuses on subsurface scoping workflow of the proposed CCUS Hub in the Greater Calgary Area. The workflow presented demonstrates our process for evaluating multiple stacked saline aquifers for potential storage within the area of interest. We discuss the challenges in determining aquifer containment, injectivity, pore volume and risk. The ultimate goal is to illuminate a subsurface location(s) that have the opportunity to store the volumes of CO2 that are anticipated over the economic life of the project. We also briefly discuss go forward plans on exploration drilling and data collection to inform surface facility design, MMV plans and economics.
