This study evaluates the hydrocarbon potential of the Belly River Formation over nine townships in the Herronton area by developing a sequence stratigraphic framework for the basal Belly River Formation, which resulted in the identification of six prograding parasequences or cycles. The distribution of reservoir quality sandstones within this framework was mapped. By correlating DST intervals and pressure and fluid recovery data to the stratigraphic framework, hydraulic conductivity of the various stratigraphic units was determined. This was used to map the distribution of hydrocarbons in the area. The final step was to calculate the overall gas reserve potential for the area and relate it to existing production. From this analysis, areas with underdeveloped gas reserves were identified and recommendations were made for further development.
