Using our extensive subsurface knowledge and GIS capabilities, CDL has established workflows to evaluate carbon sequestration targets and answer the key questions: Is there a storage opportunity? Is the storage capacity of the CCUS opportunity large enough to sequester the CO2 in the given time frame? Is the storage opportunity suitable?

This hydrogeologic study of the Triassic Montney reservoir in the oil-prone Tangent area on the Peace River Arch of northern Alberta was conducted to gain an understanding of the relationship between the upper and lower Montney hydrostratigraphic units and their separate formation water salinity domains. Deliverables include salinity and head maps, pressure vs. elevation plots, a stratigraphic cross-section and hydrostratigraphic diagrams.
