Using our extensive subsurface knowledge and GIS capabilities, CDL has established workflows to evaluate carbon sequestration targets and answer the key questions: Is there a storage opportunity? Is the storage capacity of the CCUS opportunity large enough to sequester the CO2 in the given time frame? Is the storage opportunity suitable?

This study is split into two parts, one part encompassing a large regional study area, where a more general hydrodynamic interpretation was conducted, with the other part being a smaller study area at Macoun where the more detailed hydrodynamic study was conducted. The objectives of the smaller study area include: determining the hydrodynamic relationship of the Midale Formation between the Macoun and Viewhill pools to determine if any underdeveloped opportunities exist outside of the current pool boundaries, identifying if any other interesting hydrodynamic trends in the study area exist, and determining the Midale Formation water chemistry for purposes of mapping formation water resistivity.
