The Montney Formation is composed of sedimentary facies that range from distal shoreface siltstones to shoreface-associated, very fine-grained sandstones, with numerous turbidite complexes found in between. As well, the Montney hydrogeology consists of an unconventional Deep-Basin-style regionally continuous gas system and conventional aquifers where hydrocarbons are contained within stratigraphic and structural traps. The objective of this study was to define the general sedimentary facies and hydrostratigraphic architecture of the Montney reservoir in order to define future potential exploration opportunities for oil and gas.
