The main objective of this study is to correlate Wabamun hydrodynamics and hydrochemical framework in the Peace River Arch to those of the underlying Nisku, Leduc, and Beaverhill Lake zones, located within T. 70-87, R. 25W5M – 18W6M. A correlation may determine a possible source, type, and distribution of Wabamun hydrocarbons, if the reservoir development within the Wabamun is hydraulically connected to the underlying Devonian carbonate complexes. Another objective is to determine the typical height of gas columns developed within the Wabamun (which is an indication of the minimum closure necessary to trap hydrocarbons). The hydrogeological portion of the Wabamun study also defines a number of features such as fluid-flow direction, formation water salinity distribution, and formation pressure distribution.
