Geological and hydrogeological assessment of Lower Paleozoic saline aquifers in the Opal and Maskwa areas of west-central Alberta to evaluate CO₂ sequestration potential. The study identified five prospective storage intervals—the Contact Rapids, Lynx, Sullivan and Eldon formations and the Basal Cambrian Sand—and assessed reservoir quality, containment, hydrodynamics, pore volume, storage capacity, permeability and injectivity to support development of potential carbon sequestration hubs.

The West-Central Alberta Regional CCS Screening Study is part of a three-part regional study. Learn more about Part 1 and Part 3.
