PROPOSED STUDY. NOW MARKETING. Operators in the Montney are currently seeking to unlock the lower portion of the Montney, particularly due to the operational efficiencies that can be gained from stacked development. However, like the performance variations observed between areas, variations are also observed between zones; especially when Upper Montney completions have been applied in the lower portion generating mixed results. Completion optimization is crucial in cracking the distinct rock properties and flow properties found in each zone. The potential economic impact of developing the Lower Middle and Lower Montney zones is significant, and may provide turnaround economics if sufficient deliverability and EURs can be achieved. CDL invites industry to participate in a multi-client study to advance the understanding of the Lower Montney, with a goal to help operators determine what makes the Lower Montney “tick”.
