Business Development Representative

(Full-time)

We are seeking an innovative problem solver who will use their skills and experience to manage product accounts (renewal and new business), uncovering growth opportunities from our existing client base and closing deals. You will work closely with the VP of Business Development, Client Relations and Marketing team and CDL’s technical staff.

 In this role, your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Client Relations and Account Management, maintain regular contact with clients. Manage renewals, identify upsell opportunities and nurture positive, long-term relationships.
  • Build Canadian Discovery’s corporate image with key external stakeholders. Show how CDL’s products or services satisfy those requirements through informal and formal technical presentations.
  • Provide support to clients with regards to existing services, new products & business, sale/purchase and general customer account maintenance.
  • Gain and maintain sufficient knowledge of all of CDL’s products and services and their key differentiators.
  • Identify prospective leads through networking, business directories, web-based research, data mining and other strategies. Conduct cold calls as needed.
  • Record client interactions using HubSpot (Client Relationship Management (CRM)software). 
  • Negotiate and administer contracts as they apply to current and new client base.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships; this includes excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to understand the customers’ business needs and work with customers to resolve issues.
  • Strong research and analytical skills required to resolve issues and evaluate possible solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple priorities and a diverse portfolio of account/projects under tight time.
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in HubSpot (CRM) to identify and track client interactions and BD initiatives would be considered an asset.
  • Intermediate skills in MS 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business or related discipline (Geology, Geophysics, Engineering) and a minimum of 3 years’ experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • Account management or customer service experience in an industry related role; Knowledge and Professional Network in O&G, Renewable Energy, Construction and Financial industries would be considered an asset.
